I had been meaning to come to Eyval for a long time and I am so happy I finally made it! My fiancé and I came on a date on a Friday night at 7pm. I did have to make a reservation with a few weeks in advance to be safe but it was very easy to do through Resy. The restaurant is super cute, spacious, and has a very open, bright, and fresh feel to it thanks to its white tile walls and simple decor. However, when the sun sets, these red neon lights on their walls start to pop more and give the restaurant a nice warm, romantic glow (the daytime to nighttime vibe transformation was actually really impressive). Our waitress was super nice and helped give us a sense of how much to order. She was attentive of our table without making us feel rushed or hovered over. For drinks we got the Saffron Martini and the Persian Garden Spritz, which were both very good although the martini was a little sweet/syroupy for my taste and I preferred the refreshing feel of the spritz. The true star of the show for me were all the amazing dishes we had. We ordered a lot so bear with me: - Barbari bread: there were two options for bread but we chose this one since our waitress described it as more hearty, savory, and baguette like whereas the Komaj is sweeter and more eggy. The barbari bread was truly amazing. It came warm, had a salted, crispy exterior, and doughy, not too dense and soft interior that reminded me of the inside of a very good bagel. Went very well with the spread below. - Whipped feta: amazing quality feta topped with fresh herbs, nutty walnuts and with a hint of oil that I believe also had herbs in it. The feta was creamy and silky, with the perfect level of saltiness. Super satisfying to spread. I think the name was a bit misleading since I expected a lighter/more airy consistency and it ended up being as dense as cream cheese. Still amazing but I was expecting something a bit more different. - Eggplant: another hit! The eggplant was soft, caramelized, and well seasoned. It was topped with a glorious combination of crispy fried onions and garlic chips, nutty walnuts, and balanced out by this creamy, tangy yogurt sauce that really tied everything together so well. I put some of this over the tahdig (below) and it was a glorious combination. - Tahdig: best tahdig I've had. Small enough that every bite has a delightful crisp. Amazingly seasoned rice. It came with a sweet and tangy pomegranate tomato sauce as the base which I really enjoyed. The pistachios and barberries on top added another delicious layer of flavors. - Lamb ribs: this dish is the reason I came here and it definitely did not disappoint. These literally fell off the bone and the meat melted in your mouth. The lamb was sooo unbelievably tender and had the most beautiful caramelized tamarind-date glaze that was crispy and perfectly charred on the edges. The sweet flavors were well balanced with the savory seasoning of the lamb, and the delightfully spicy kick from the peppers. I am already hoping to come back just for these. Don't think twice about ordering them! They are worth it. - Saffron half chicken: I was surprised at how amazing this dish also was. The chicken was incredibly tender, flavorful, and had a perfectly crispy skin. It was well seasoned with the deep flavors of saffron and came over the best rice I've had in a long time! The rice was super fluffy, and full of complex flavors and textures with the barberries, carrots, golden raisins, almonds. Additionally, they serve this with a little jar of steaming hot chicken stock on the side which you can add to the rice to make it even more flavorful. I need to have this rice again in the fuyur - Saffron ice cream sandwich: had to try this because it seems to be the dessert most featured in all the videos online. Super aesthetic, perfect to share between two, and really good! The saffron ice cream was creamy, and had a delicious flavor that was well complemented by the nutty pistachios. If you like ice cream, this is a really nice dessert! Less messy to eat than I expected. The vanilla wafer it comes with is also very good. - Rose cream cake: hot take but I think this is was actually better than the ice cream sandwich. This dessert is a hidden gem. If you like strawberry shortcake, definitely order this (I'm not even the biggest fan but this was incredible!) The cake was so spongy and fluffy, with a delightful cardamom flavor, balanced out by this sweet cream filling with tangy strawberries and the flavor of rose water. Super light, complex, and not too sweet. Overall, I was completely blown away by this place. From the really nice ambiance, the amazing service, to the exceptional dishes. I did not have a single bad bite while eating here. I highly highly recommend this place!!

Came here for a friends birthday. Have to make reservation a few weeks in advance and if you have more than 6 people there's a pre fixed menu. They were very accommodating to us, though, when someone was able to join last minute making us 7 people despite not doing the pre fixe. You have to order all your food at once, but we got just the right amount in my opinion! For 7 of us we shared about 10 items (give or take a couple). Some of us were vegetarian and there were plenty of delicious options! My Persian friends enjoyed the authenticity of the food, and give this place a thumbs up for sure. For the quality of food I believe the prices are a pretty good deal. Overall a fun time, nice vibes inside, and good food! Would go back for sure.

Located all the way in Bushwick, Eyval serves Persian delights that are worth the train ride. First time trying Persian so heavily relied on reviews and server recs. Kinda tastes like Mediterranean but a bit more spiced? The mast o musir is a thick yogurt dip that tastes garlicky & sweet. Rly good with the barbari bread. Komaj is a bit softer kinda like dinner roll, would get more of the babari. LOVED the squash Perfectly roasted to bring out the sweetness!! Pumpkin seeds, pomegranate, and feta all complement each other very well. Lamb was a bit tough so skip that and get the super tender wagyu kabob. Barbari Bread $6 Mast o Musir $9* Komaj Bread $5 Butternut Squash & Feta $18* Lamb Ribs $22 Kabob Chenjeh $28* Almond and Pistachio Cake $14 요즘 계속 페르시안 요리가 피드에 뜨길래 나도 먹으러 와봄.

Eyval has been recommended to me for a long time, so I felt like it was the right time to check it out. The whipped feta was pretty solid, but I was a bit disappointed by the two bread options we got as they weren't anything so special and honestly their flavors didn't hit super hard. It's a bit tight for vegetarians to be honest, as the eggplant skewers were one of the only dishes I could eat. But even given that, they were pretty good and I can't complain :)

Very tasty meal! We ordered quite a lot of food for 3 people. I really liked the eggplant, the lamb, the scallops and the mushroom dish was delightful. The dessert was ok not amazing. The ambience was fun and we saw an actor there too. I'd go back! But the cost was slightly on the higher end for my budget.

Incredibly phenomenal! I live a block away and Eyval has been on my list for over a year. My besties are in town and I finally obtained a reservation. We enjoyed everything even though we were wildly exhausted from a busy day. We had the whipped feta, cabbage & date salad, potatoes, scallops, lamb ribs, chicken entree. We loved everything we ordered including the drinks where we had red wine and the iced tea old fashioned. I live so close but it's so hard to get a table at Eyval. I wish they did to go orders!

I love Persian cuisine, but I think it's still underexplored compared to many of the other cuisines dominating New York's culinary landscape. Eyval represents it exceedingly well. It's the brainchild of chef Nasim Alikhani, a James Beard awarded restaurateur who also runs Sofreh, the extremely popular Persian restaurant in Prospect Heights that I also love. From the moment you enter the minimalist space, with Iranian films projected onto the walls, you'll feel like you're in the coolest restaurant ever. I brought a date here and solidified a place in his mind as someone with excellent, discerning, taste. Or at least that's what I've been telling myself. This is culinary theater, with each unique dish presenting a fun foray into Persian cooking. I started with her barbari bread, all sesame flecked and a perfect pairing to dishes like the eggplant with cured yogurt, or kabobs like the scallop one I enjoyed here. Going back to that eggplant dish though, the mint oil, garlic chips and crispy onions really elevated the humble aubergine beyond my imagination. I've long felt that the scourge of small plates, with its small portions and prices as high as what full entrees used to cost, is ruinous for our wallets, here I actually didn't mind it. It allowed me to try more things without feeling like I was over ordering. Bring a date or some friends and prepare to impress!

I will preface this and say this was my first time having Persian food. This is a completely personal thing, but this is food I wouldn't necessarily crave. However, I definitely have an appreciation for it and many of the dishes I've never had anywhere else. And because of that, I think it's worth checking it! Ambiance / Service: restaurant is actually bigger than it looks from the outside. I think you could have a party of 8-10 people. Very casual low key vibes. Our waiter was super friendly! Food: they recommend family style. Ordered the below for two people and it was too much food. Probably could've ordered one less dish. -Barbari Bread: a must. And you need to get it with the Mast o Musir dip. Only comes with one piece of bread - likely would need another order for 2+ people. -Mast o Musir: this with the bread is a perfect combo. -Mushroom Borani: this was just ok for me. Could've been an off night, but I felt like it wasn't seasoned at all. Definitely needed salt - ended Im dipping in the Mast o Musir dip. -Lamb Ribs: soo tender. Recommend. Comes with six small ribs. I felt like it needed some sauce so I ended up dipping in the Mast o Musir as well. -Octopus Kabob: bright and refreshing dish. For me personally, I didn't enjoy the flavor profile, but there was nothing "wrong" with this dish. Very well executed, just a personal preference. -Half Chicken Fesenjoon: could easily be shared amongst four. Comes with rice which was so buttery and delicious. Rich nutty flavor and kind of sweet.

Run don't walk to this Persian restaurant! The ambiance is warm in an East-Williamsburg-apartment way, with tiled walls, warm lighting and beautiful (if a bit rickety) chairs and tables. The food was heavenly: the photos don't come close to doing it justice, but the balance of tartness from the yogurt, umami from the mushrooms, sweetness from the honey sauce, freshness from the herbs... each dish blended together so wonderfully that I would do another hour-long commute just to eat here again. Finally, the service was incredible: my friend found a small brush bristle in his food, which he politely relayed to the staff so that they could check the brushes they were using (maybe to clean the dishes?). When it came time to pay the check, we found that our main course had been put on the house!
